Dirt on the grill is notoriously difficult to clean. The reason is, fat meat, sauce, burnt butter sticks to the grill making it even more difficult to clean.
For those of you who face this difficulty, you can try cleaning it with vinegar.
Vinegar works great for cleaning many items, including grills, and it doesn't leave any harmful residue that can stick to food and pose a health risk.
How to clean
Reporting from Love to Know, you only need a few simple steps to clean a barbecue grill with vinegar.
All it takes is a spray bottle, warm water, white table vinegar, and a sheet of aluminum foil.
Here are the steps:
-Pour two cups of vinegar into a spray bottle.
-Add two glasses of water on top.
-Put the cap on the bottle and shake vigorously to mix the water and vinegar.
-Fold the aluminum foil until it forms a taper
-Spray the water-vinegar solution on the grill rack and the area above and below it until it's wet.
-Let the solution dry for 10 minutes.
-While the grill dries, pour in the extra water-vinegar solution and refill the bottle with vinegar only.
-Spray the vinegar on the aluminum foil and use it to scrub the inside of the grill. This method does not require rinsing with water.
You can also use vinegar to clean the outside of the grill. If you don't want the vinegar smell to stick around for days, it's best to use a diluted solution.
For the outside, it is recommended not to rub it with aluminum foil, just use a standard cotton cloth.
Spray the solution onto the cloth instead of directly on the grill making it easier to make sure it hits every area. Use a cotton swab to reach every narrow spot.
Thorough cleaning
If the steps above don't make the grill clean, there is another process you can try: mixing vinegar with baking soda.
Here are the steps:
=Place the grill mat in a large plastic bag, such as a garbage bag.
-In a plastic metal dish, mix one cup of vinegar and one-half cup of baking soda.
-Pour this solution onto the rack.
-Cover the bag and leave it overnight.
-Rinse the dirt in the sink or with a hose.
-Note that the vinegar and baking soda solution will bubble. So make sure you use a much bigger plate.

Baking with vinegar
Vinegar isn't just for cleaning grills. You can also add it to the barbecue sauce for a distinctive taste. But don't overdo it, barbecue sauce can become too sour because of too much vinegar.
You can also use it to control charcoal fire. If the flame starts to get a little too high, you can spray the charcoal with a solution of vinegar and water to bring it back under control.
